Overview
CNC Turning at Aurora
CNC turning produces rotationally symmetric parts by spinning raw stock against stationary cutting tools. It is the most efficient way to make shafts, bushings, pins, fittings, spacers, and threaded components, with excellent surface finishes and consistent roundness from the first part of a batch to the last.
Turning at Aurora serves customers across hydraulics, fluid handling, industrial equipment, aerospace, and consumer hardware, essentially any design that includes round features. With live tooling, we complete milled flats, cross-holes, and threaded features in the same setup, so even parts that mix round and milled geometry stay accurate and affordable.
Our turning centers run metals and engineering plastics alike, from stainless steels and superalloys to Delrin, PEEK, and Nylon, with tooling and cutting parameters tuned for each material. No minimum order quantity applies, so one-off replacement shafts and monthly batches of thousands are equally welcome.
To start, share a drawing or CAD model; a physical sample works too, since our reverse engineering team can measure and model it for you. You receive straightforward pricing and lead time, often the same day, then inspected parts ship on your schedule with documentation on request.
Turned parts often need secondary details, and we handle those in-house as well: thread cutting, knurling, grooving, and precise chamfers, plus finishing coordination when parts require plating, anodizing, or passivation. Every dimension that matters to your assembly is checked before the part leaves the building, and inspection reports or material certifications can accompany any order, so your incoming quality team receives exactly what it needs.

FAQ
Questions About CNC Turning
What is live tooling, and why does it matter?
Live tooling puts driven cutting tools into the lathe, so features like flats, cross-holes, and milled pockets are cut while the part is still chucked. Fewer setups means better accuracy, lower cost, and faster delivery.
Can you turn engineering plastics?
Yes, we routinely turn Delrin, Nylon, PEEK, UHMW, and other plastics with tooling and speeds tuned for clean finishes and tight tolerances.
What quantities do you support?
From a single shaft to thousands of parts per month. There's no minimum order quantity.
